“You have my commitment that I will be with you in this journey, the journey of empowering people to do magical things through ICT, and ultimately, the journey of making this world a better place, the journey of making the Philippines a significant player in the global digital economy, and the journey of enriching other people’s lives,” said Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Monchito B. Ibrahim.
Undersecretary Ibrahim was sworn into office by DICT Secretary Rodolfo A. Salalima on Tuesday afternoon, 14 March 2017.
In his speech, Secretary Salalima shared a secret of a good executive, that is “to surround yourself with the best and and the brightest.” This gave him the confidence to appoint the former DICT consultant for regional operations and countryside development as the new undersecretary for management and operations.
Recognizing the potentials of ICT innovation, Undersecretary Ibrahim urges DICT officials and employees “to work together in building a good foundation for the Department.”
The oathtaking and turn-over ceremony also celebrated the significant accomplishments and contributions of the outgoing Undersecretary Jorge V. Sarmiento. The appointment of Undersecretary Ibrahim was made following the resignation of the former undersecretary due to health concerns.
