This is to update all concerned government agencies that the ongoing efforts of the Department of Science and Technology to develop a fiber optic network, through the Integrated Government Philippines (iGovPhil) program, which will interconnect 160 government agencies in Metro Manila for faster communications and delivery of services.

The fiber has been laid out and fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) installations are being conducted in offices of recipient agencies with formal agreements with iGovPhil. The facilitation of Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) with the rest of the agencies is continuing.

To date, we have finished GovNet activities with the first 48 client agencies in Quezon City. We are now in the process of performing integrity and continuity tests with our contractor, WifiCity Inc.These tests are part of the final acceptance and testing of the fiber installed in your respective agencies. As such, during the scheduled testing, your office will experience network downtime.

Our office is now finalizing the details of the MOA on the use of the iGovPhil network. This is to reiterate that what you have signed before covers only the installation and deployment of network equipment. A consultative meeting will soon be held regarding this matter and we will send you an invitation once details are finalized.
